9/11 Tribute Center programs are offered throughout the year. Lectures, educational workshops and support programs are available to unite family members who lost loved ones, survivors, Lower Manhattan residents, rescue and recovery workers and volunteers who assisted in the aftermath of 9/11. Wake for retired FDNY Firefighter George Heerdt

Retired FDNY Firefighter George “Hurdy-Gurdy” Heerdt, 68, died on February 27, 2021 after a long fight with COVID-19.
He was proud to be a forever member of Canarsie’s Bravest Engine 257/Ladder 170.
His wake will be held on Friday, March 5, 2021, from 6:00pm until 9:30pm at Weigand Brothers Funeral Home in Williston Park, NY.
A funeral Mass will be said at 10:30am on Saturday, March 6, 2021 at St. Brigid’s Church in Westbury NY.
Interment will take place at a later date at All Faiths Cemetery in Middle Village, NY.
