Tenth Annual PO James D. McNaughton Benefit

January 24, 2015 @ 1:00 pm - 9:00 pm

The 10th annual benefit to honour US Army Staff Sgt. and NYPD Officer James D. McNaughton will be held on Saturday, January 24, 2015 from 1:00pm–9:00pm at Mulcahy’s Pub in Wantagh.

There will be food, drink specials, live music from great bands and DJs, an appearance by the USO, giveaways and raffles, all to benefit the Wounded Warrior Project, the 9-1-1 Veterans and the Stephen Siller Tunnel to Towers Foundation, among others. The Stephen Siller Foundation will be donating the proceeds to pay for the mortgages of murdered NYPD Officers Rafael Ramos and Wenjian Liu.

Admission is $20.00.

James “Jimmy” McNaughton, 27, was the first NYPD officer to give his life for his country while serving as a soldier in Iraq. In June of 2005 his Commanding Officer asked for volunteers with police experience to help train the Iraqi Highway Patrol.  There were several Police Officers within the unit, however, Jimmy told his fellow Soldiers to stand down.  Jimmy stated that he would accept the dangerous assignment based on the fact that his fellow Soldiers had families and children.  He was killed by a sniper on August 2, 2005, while completing this assignment.
