9/11 Tribute Center programs are offered throughout the year. Lectures, educational workshops and support programs are available to unite family members who lost loved ones, survivors, Lower Manhattan residents, rescue and recovery workers and volunteers who assisted in the aftermath of 9/11. September 11 Remembrance Ceremony – Naperville, IL

The Exchange Club of Naperville Americanism Committee again will host their annual September 11 Remembrance Ceremony at the Commander Dan Shanower September 11 Memorial. The evening will begin with music at 5:45pm, followed by the service at 6:00pm. This year’s guest speaker will be Chuck Johanns who was instrumental in constructing the Commander Dan Shanower September 11 Memorial.
Naperville Commander Dan Shanower was the only local person killed in the September 11, 2001 terrorist attacks. Commander Shanower was 40 and a career US Naval officer who worked in intelligence. He had begun gathering information on the World Trade Center attacks to brief his superiors when hijacked Flight 77 struck the Pentagon, killing him.
