Lectures, educational workshops and support programs are available to unite family members who lost loved ones, survivors, Lower Manhattan residents, rescue and recovery workers and volunteers who assisted in the aftermath of 9/11. Seminar on Terrorism – The Hunt for bin Laden

The next John Jay Friday seminar on terrorism will be held on Friday, November 8, 2013 from 3:00pm to 5:00pm. The speaker will be Peter Bergen, who will talk about the hunt for bin Laden.

Peter Bergen was the only journalist allowed to interview Osama bin Laden in the late 1990s in the mountains of Afghanistan.  He studied bin Laden and al Qaeda for many years. He is the author of Manhunt: The Ten Year Search for bin Laden.

Bergen also serves as the director of the National Security Studies Program at the New America Foundation in Washington, D.C., and is CNN’s national security reporter.

His book, The Longest War: The Enduring Conflict Between America and al Qaeda (2011), was noted by The Guardian and Newsweek as one of the most indispensible books on terrorism in the past decade.
