Road March for Hunger – Rochester, MI
September 11, 2018 @ 11:00 am - 12:00 pm
The Road March for Hunger will be held on Tuesday, September 11, 2018, from 11:00am until 2:00pm at Elliott Tower in Rochester, Michigan.
A 9/11 Day of Service and Remembrance project, the Road March for Hunger assists local homeless veterans. The day will begin with a 9/11 ceremony. The group will then conduct a one-mile march every thirty minutes.
March participants are requested to bring a backpack and carry 10 pounds of food with them. This food will be donated to the Emmanuel House, a veterans’ shelter in Detroit.
Every day, veterans carry an immense amount of intangible weight, and homeless veterans carry even more. The purpose of carrying the food is to make the intangible weight that veterans carry tangible.
Last year, $800 and 600 pounds of food were collected. Organizers hope to increase those numbers this year.
