9/11 Tribute Center programs are offered throughout the year. Lectures, educational workshops and support programs are available to unite family members who lost loved ones, survivors, Lower Manhattan residents, rescue and recovery workers and volunteers who assisted in the aftermath of 9/11. Putnam County September 11th Candlelight Vigil – Carmel, NY

Putnam County’s annual September 11th Candlelight Vigil will be held at 8:00pm on Wednesday, September 11, 2019 at the Putnam Heroes Memorial in Carmel.

The eight Putnam County residents who were killed in the terrorist attacks of September 11, 2001 will be recognized in the ceremony as always. This year, seven residents who have died of illnesses from their work in the rescue and recovery efforts will also be acknowledged at the ceremony, including two new recovery workers who died recently of site-related illnesses, Lieutenant Thomas Roberts, FDNY Ladder 40, and Detective Thomas Lyons, NYPD Bronx Narcotics Unit.

Before the candlelight vigil, there will be a Mass of Remembrance at Saint James the Apostle Church in Carmel at 7:00pm.
