National Fallen Firefighter Memorial Candlelight Vigil NEW LOCATION
October 5, 2013 @ 6:30 pm - 8:00 pm
Due to the government shutdown, the National Fallen Firefighter Candlelight Vigil honoring the 81 firefighters who were killed in the line of duty this year has been moved.
The candlelight vigil will now take place on Saturday, October 5, 2013 from 6:30pm to 8:00pm at the Basilica (next to the National Fire Academy at the Daughters of Charity campus). There is no seating for the general public at the Candlelight Service. Despite the government shutdown, families of fallen firefighters will be able to visit the National Fallen Firefighters Memorial immediately following the candlelight service. During this visit, the annual Presidential wreath-laying will take place during a brief ceremony in front of the Memorial.
The Memorial Service will be held at Knott Arena at Mount St. Mary’s University on Sunday, October 6, 2013 from 9:30am to 12:00pm. The public is invited to Sunday’s Memorial Service.
