Meeting re PA route of September 11th National Memorial Trail
October 21, 2014 @ 7:00 pm - 9:00 pm
A meeting will be held on Tuesday, October 21, 2014 from 7:00pm to 9:00pm in Hollidaysburg to help determine the best route for the northern leg of the September 11th National Memorial Trail. Local residents, business leaders, elected officials, and anyone with historical or cultural knowledge of the area are welcome to attend.
The 300-mile segment of the September 11th National Memorial Trail will extend from the Delaware River to the Flight 93 Memorial and then to the Great Allegheny Passage.
The 1,100-mile trail is intended to link the three memorial sites to the terrorist attacks of September 11, 2001 — the World Trade Center, the Pentagon and Shanksville.
No completion date has yet been set for the work.
This meeting is part of a series of meetings (the next is October 27, 2014 in Carlisle), will update attendees with status reports on what has been accomplished to date and take suggestions. Maps of the proposed trail and questionnaires will be provided.
Representatives of the trail’s board of directors, a study committee comprised of experts drawn from the 300-mile-long trail corridor and a consulting team will collect information and answer questions.
