9/11 Tribute Center programs are offered throughout the year. Lectures, educational workshops and support programs are available to unite family members who lost loved ones, survivors, Lower Manhattan residents, rescue and recovery workers and volunteers who assisted in the aftermath of 9/11. Lecture: State Terrorism & Dynamics of Political Violence

The John Jay Center on Terrorism’s fall 2013 Friday Seminar Series will begin on Friday, September 20, 2013, from 3:00pm to 5:00pm with a lecture entitled State Terrorism and the Dynamics of Political Violence by Martin Miller, a professor of history and Slavic and Eurasian studies at Duke University and author of The Foundations of Modern Terrorism: State, Society and the Dynamics of Political Violence.

Miller offers a historical perspective beyond common notions of terrorism to include both government-sponsored violence and insurgencies, ranging from the French Revolution to the contemporary Middle East.
