Josh Piver Memorial Scholarship Summer Fundraiser

July 11, 2015 @ 3:00 pm - 6:00 pm

The annual Josh Piver Memorial Scholarship Summer Fundraiser will be held on Saturday, July 11, 2015 from 3:00pm to 6:00pm at the home of the Simmons family in Stonington.

The afternoon’s activities include childrens’ swimming, games, including whiffle ball, soccer and a bean bag throw; a basket raffle, hot dogs, pizza, ice cream and beverages.

There will be a suggested contribution of $25.00 per person at the door. Children under 12 are admitted free. All funds benefit the Josh Piver Memorial Scholarship, which is awarded annually to a senior from Josh’s alma mater, Stonington High School who exemplifies Josh’s community service and character. Scholarship winners are chosen by an essay contest, transcripts, and financial need. Currently the scholarship is $1,000, though there are hopes to expand the amount.

Joshua Michael Piver, was 23 and working at Cantor Fitzgerald on the 105th floor of Tower 1 when the terrorists flew Flight 11 into the building. He was a talented soccer player with many friends.
