9/11 Tribute Center programs are offered throughout the year. Lectures, educational workshops and support programs are available to unite family members who lost loved ones, survivors, Lower Manhattan residents, rescue and recovery workers and volunteers who assisted in the aftermath of 9/11. John Jay Seminar on Terrorism – “The Islamic State and al-Qaeda: An Evolving Threat” with Richard Atwood

Richard Atwood will present a talk entitled, The Islamic State and al-Qaeda: An Evolving Threat on Friday, September 30,2016,at 3:00pm as part of the John Jay Center on Terrorism Friday seminars.

Atwood is the multilateral affairs director for Crisis Group and head of its New York office He represents the organization at the UN and serves as policy adviser to the president, particularly on the Middle East and Africa. He was lead author of its special report Exploiting Disorder: al-Qaeda and Islamic State, published in March 2016.

Prior to Crisis Group, he worked for about fifteen years across the Middle East, Africa, South Asia and Latin America for the UN and other organizations, with extended periods in Afghanistan, Pakistan, Palestine, Jordan, Lebanon, Nigeria and Kenya.
