9/11 Tribute Center programs are offered throughout the year. Lectures, educational workshops and support programs are available to unite family members who lost loved ones, survivors, Lower Manhattan residents, rescue and recovery workers and volunteers who assisted in the aftermath of 9/11. Honor Elizabeth “Lizz” Wainio Communications Scholarship Fundraiser – Baltimore, MD

The annual Honor Elizabeth Wainio ’95 Communications Scholarship Fundraiser will take place at Baltimore’s Ropewalk Tavern from 2:00pm until 6:00pm on Saturday, October 14, 2017. There will be an open bar, hors d’oeuvres, a silent auction and remembrances of Lizz.
The fee to attend will be $50.00. $35.00 of each ticket price is a tax-deductible contribution to the Honor Elizabeth Wainio ’95 Communications Scholarship for students in Towson’s mass communications program.

Honor Elizabeth Wainio, better known to her friends as Lizz, loved Towson. After graduating, Lizz became a district manager for Discovery Channel Stores, a job she loved. Lizz Wainio was 27 and on a business trip aboard United Flight 93 on Tuesday, September 11, 2001, when terrorists hijacked the flight. She was able to call her family, about whom she was worried. Passengers and crew members on her flight are known to have fought back against the hijackers, bringing the plane down in a field in rural Pennsylvania instead of its Washington DC target.
