9/11 Tribute Center programs are offered throughout the year. Lectures, educational workshops and support programs are available to unite family members who lost loved ones, survivors, Lower Manhattan residents, rescue and recovery workers and volunteers who assisted in the aftermath of 9/11. FF Michael Kiefer Educational Grant Awards Deadline Approaching

Twelve educational awards worth $500.00 each are available through the New York Firefighters’ Burn Center Foundation in the honor and memory of FF Michael Kiefer, who was killed in the terrorist attacks on the World Trade Center. These grants are awarded for firefighter education — academic, technical or a personal interest course.
Eligibility is restricted to members of the uniformed firefighting force, of all ranks from probationary Firefighters to Chief Officers, including Fire Marshals and Supervising Fire Marshals, Marine Engineers, Pilots and Wipers. Please note that these awards are ONLY for active firefighters, NOT for their families. Please do not submit for spouses or children.
Send a typed letter explaining in 550 words or less why you would like to receive the award and its purpose (i.e., scuba, flying, rappelling, academic, fire science, cooking, etc.). Include your present assignment, home address, a contact number and email in your submission. Please write “GRANT” on your submission’s envelope, and send it to the address below.
All written requests will be accepted, considered and acknowledged.
There are 12 awards granted yearly. $500.00 will be paid directly to the school or institution of each of the winners.
Submissions will be accepted from April 15, 2015 to June 15, 2015. Awards will be announced on July 15, 2015.
