9/11 Tribute Center programs are offered throughout the year. Lectures, educational workshops and support programs are available to unite family members who lost loved ones, survivors, Lower Manhattan residents, rescue and recovery workers and volunteers who assisted in the aftermath of 9/11. Conference – High-Rise Building Safety: Emerging Threats and Evacuation Challenges

The Christian Regenhard Center for Emergency Response Studies will host a day-long high-rise building safety conference at John Jay College on Thursday, October 18, 2018 from 8:30am until 5:00pm.

Speakers will include Roger Sakowich, Assistant Chief, FDNY; Jake Pauls, occupant movement expert; Justin Francis, Australian Fire Service, and Churchill Fellow (on high-rise practices in world cities); Glenn Corbett of John Jay College, on active shooter threats in a high-rise environment; Norman Groner, of John Jay College, on occupant movement strategies and controls; James Quintiere of the University of Maryland, on post-flashover fires.

Other topics will include an update on Grenfell Tower inquiries and changes; updates on wood structural systems in tall buildings; and a forecast of the height and number of tall buildings globally in 2050.
