Ceremony and WTC steel viewing

September 2, 2012 @ 3:00 pm - 5:00 pm

The Silk Hope Ruritans invite the public to attend a special ceremony honoring the victims of the September 11, 2001 terrorist attacks. A 19’ piece of steel that was once part of the World Trade Center will be on display.

The ceremony will take place at the Silk Hope Community Center on Sunday, September 2, 2012 at 3:00pm. The beam can be seen by visitors in the parking lot, while a ceremony will be held inside the community center.

The steel was donated to Chatham County and will be part of their September 11th memorial. The County has tried to secure a permanent display site. The current plan is to display the 9/11 artifact near the new Justice Building in Pittsboro, though the plan is not finalized yet.
