9/11 Tribute Center programs are offered throughout the year. Lectures, educational workshops and support programs are available to unite family members who lost loved ones, survivors, Lower Manhattan residents, rescue and recovery workers and volunteers who assisted in the aftermath of 9/11. Captain Gerald F. DeConto, USN, Scholarship Fund 5-K Run and Walk

The 13th annual Captain Gerald F. DeConto, USN, Scholarship Fund 5-K Run and Walk will begin at 9:00am on Sunday, September 21, 2014 at Russell’s Corner in Sandwich, MA.

Captain Gerald F. DeConto, USN was killed in the September 11th terrorist attack on the Pentagon. He was 44. His large family set up a scholarship fund to honor him and the legacy he left behind which is one of service to his country, leadership, friendship and love of life and family. A scholarship is awarded each year from the fund to a deserving Sandwich High School senior.

The 5-K starts with a brief memorial tribute at 9:00am on Sunday, September 21, 2014 at Russell’s Corner (corner of Rte. 6A and Jarvis Street) in Sandwich, MA. The course is a scenic 3.1 mile route through the center of Sandwich to the Sandwich Marina and beach area. Runners and walkers are both welcome. Runners will leave the starting line first with official timing by Spitler Race Systems of Pawtucket RI.
