Lectures, educational workshops and support programs are available to unite family members who lost loved ones, survivors, Lower Manhattan residents, rescue and recovery workers and volunteers who assisted in the aftermath of 9/11. Rally for Rocco

A fundraiser for Rocco Morabito will be held on Thursday, August 21, 2014, from 7:00pm to 11:30pm at Russo’s on the Bay.
Rocco was born on December 30, 2011 to FF John Morabito and his wife Laura. Morabito responded to the terrorist attacks on September 11, 2001 and worked the recovery effort. Rocco has hypoxic-ischemic encephalopathy and catastrophic brain damage. He cannot see, speak, walk or breathe unaided. He has now developed scoliosis and kyphosis.
The family, who also suffered great damage to their home in Hurricane Sandy, needs a special van for Rocco to go to his doctors’ appointments and to a special school. A van will allow Rocco’s parents to lock his wheelchair in place and keep his medical equipment near it. The van costs $85,000 with a $30,000 down payment.
The fundraiser will feature dinner, dancing, prizes, raffles and a DJ.
