FDNY Firefighter John G. Chipura Blood Drive – Staten Island, NY
September 7, 2021 @ 9:00 am - 3:00 pm
Two FDNY Firefighter John G. Chipura Blood Drives will be held this week, honoring the man who was killed in the 9/11 terrorist attacks twenty years ago. The drives will be held from 9:00am until 3:00pm on Tuesday, September 7, 2021 and on Friday, September 10, 2021 on the Staten Island side of the Staten Island Ferry Terminal. Another drive will be held from 8:30am until 2:30pm on Sunday, September 12, 2021 at Our Lady Help of Christians Church on Staten Island.
Donating blood is currently more important than ever, as the city’s blood stores are critically low. New York City has only about a 2-3-day supply of blood; and even less of type O blood.
To make an appointment, please click here. Please remember to bring ID to your appointment and to eat a meal before donating blood.
Extra precautions are being taken to help prevent the person-to-person spread of COVID-19.
FDNY Firefighter John G. Chipura was an NYPD officer and also served his country as a United States Marine before joining the FDNY. He was injured in the 1983 Beirut terrorist attack on Marine barracks, but survived. John was killed while responding to the World Trade Center during the terrorist attacks of September 11, 2001.
