9/11 Tribute Center programs are offered throughout the year. Lectures, educational workshops and support programs are available to unite family members who lost loved ones, survivors, Lower Manhattan residents, rescue and recovery workers and volunteers who assisted in the aftermath of 9/11. The Captain Gerald F. DeConto, USN, Memorial Scholarship 5-K Run/Walk will be virtual this year.
Both runners and walkers are welcome to participate at any time from Saturday, September 11, 2021 until Saturday, September 18, 2021. The event is self-timed. Registered participants will receive a link and instructions for submitting their finish times.

DeConto Scholarship Fund, which awards an annual scholarship to a deserving Sandwich High School senior. The Fund was started by Gerry’s large and loving family in Sandwich, Massachusetts.

On September 11, 2001, Captain Gerald DeConto was in charge of the Navy Command Center in the Pentagon. He was working with the Secretary of the Navy to plan a response to the terrorist attacks on the World Trade Center when hijacked Flight 77 struck the Pentagon, killing him and 183 other innocent people. He was 44.
