Remembrance Service – Cos Cob, CT

September 11, 2021 @ 8:30 am - 9:00 am

A remembrance ceremony will be held at the 9/11 memorial in Connecticut’s Cos Cob Park beginning at 8:46am on Saturday, September 11, 2021.

Some family members of those who were killed in the attacks will attend as well as town and state elected officials, members of the military, the American Red Cross and local first responders.

Attendees will be allowed place flowers at the base of the memorial, which was designed to represent the twin towers of the World Trade Center, with the names of those killed carved into an American flag along the towers.

The service will begin with a cannon shot and a ringing bell at 8:46am to mark the moment that the first hijacked jet hit the World Trade Center. More bells will ring at the time each of the planes struck.

The names of the 33 Greenwich residents killed in the attacks will be read.

Social distancing and other COVID-19 safety measures will be observed.
