Hockey Heroes – NYPD vs. FDNY Hockey – New York, NY and TV

September 9, 2021 @ 7:30 pm - 10:30 pm

FDNY vs. NYPD Hockey is back! This year’s game will take place on Thursday, September 9, 2021 at Madison Square Garden. Pre-game ceremonies honoring the police officers and firefighters killed in the 9/11 terrorist attacks and those who have died of World Trade Center-related illnesses will begin at 7:30pm ET. The game will begin at 8:00pm.

For the first time, this year the game will air live on ESPN2 at 8:00pm ET. The game can also be seen via the ESPN app.

Last year’s sold-out NYPD vs. FDNY hockey game (scheduled for April 4, 2020) was canceled due to COVID. All the previously purchased tickets from that game are being re-issued. An announcement will be made if any new tickets become available.

Funds raised by the game will benefit charities, including the Ray Pfeifer Foundation and the PBA Widows and Children’s Fund.

Based on current government mandates, to attend the “Hockey Heroes” event at the Garden, guests will need to provide either proof of full COVID-19 vaccination or a negative COVID-19 test (which can be antigen or PCR). Full vaccination means the event is at least 14 days after the person received their final vaccine dose. Antigen tests must be taken within six hours of the event start time, and PCR tests must be taken within 72 hours of the day of the event. Please note that government mandates and Madison Square Garden venue protocols are subject to change. For more information about COVID requirements, please visit the MSG website.

This will be the 47th hockey game between the FDNY and NYPD. The FDNY won the first game, and currently leads the all-time series with 25 wins to the NYPD’s 18 (there were 2 draws).
