9/11 Tribute Center programs are offered throughout the year. Lectures, educational workshops and support programs are available to unite family members who lost loved ones, survivors, Lower Manhattan residents, rescue and recovery workers and volunteers who assisted in the aftermath of 9/11. Wake for retired FDNY Firefighter Henry “Harry” Gillen, L-131

Henry “Harry” Gillen, who was retired from FDNY Ladder 131, died on April 25, 2021.

Harry joined the FDNY’s Ladder 131 on October 19, 1957 at the age of 24. In 1997, after serving the FDNY for 40 years, Harry retired. He was the most senior firefighter in the FDNY.

After his retirement, he responded to the attacks of 9/11 by transporting rescue and recovery workers to the site and providing necessary equipment.

In addition, his beautiful stained glass ornaments many New York City firehouses.

His wake will be held on Wednesday, April 28 2021, from 7:00pm until 9:00pm and again on Thursday, April 29 2021, from 2:00pm until 5:00pm and from 7:00pm until 9:00pm at McLaughlin & Sons Funeral Home in Brooklyn.

His funeral will take place at St. Patrick’s Roman Catholic Church in Brooklyn at 10:30am on Friday, April 30 2021.
