In 2001, Tom Glasser, a successful broker at Sandler O’Neill & Partners, approached the Summit Police Department and asked how he could help officers and their families. When he was killed in the terrorist attacks of September 11, 2001, the Thomas I. Glasser Memorial Scholarship Fund was formed to assist children of active and retired Summit police officers, as well as Summit high school seniors who intend to pursue a college education in criminal justice or law enforcement.
