9/11 paramedic Stephen Kavalkovich to speak “Step Away from Your Grave: Overcome Opioid Addition Now” Elgin, IL
February 24, 2019 @ 4:00 pm
On Sunday, February 24, 2019 at 4:00pm, Stephen Kavalkovich will speak on Step Away from Your Grave: Overcome Opioid Addition Now at First Congregational Church in Elgin, IL.
Kavalkovich was a paramedic who responded to the terrorist attacks on the World Trade Center on September 11, 2001.
Afterwards, he discovered too late that the medications he was taking for pain relief had turned into medications to which he was addicted. That turned into the loss of his certifications, his job, his marriage and access to his children.
Kavalkovich will tell how he overcame his addictions. He hosts the Mental Health News Radio Network podcast Rescue the Rescuer, which is geared toward EMS workers, law enforcement officers and firefighters who battle mental health issues, post-traumatic stress disorder, substance abuse, and more.
