Garnet “Ace” Bailey, 53, played eleven seasons with the National Hockey League, earning seven Stanley Cup rings, as both a player and a scout. On the morning of September 11, 2001, he was traveling for the Los Angeles Kings, and was a passenger aboard United Flight 175. He was killed when terrorists flew the plane into the South Tower of the World Trade Center.

Ace loved children and the charity in his name focuses on the well-being of hospitalized children through the building and renovation of hospital environments to improve the family-centered and softer side of hospital care. The Foundation works to reduce the stress of pediatric hospitalization by creating environments that are less clinical in appearance and more comforting and soothing for children and their families. The Floating Hospital for Children at Tufts Medical Center in Boston is their beneficiary.
