9/11 Tribute Center programs are offered throughout the year. Lectures, educational workshops and support programs are available to unite family members who lost loved ones, survivors, Lower Manhattan residents, rescue and recovery workers and volunteers who assisted in the aftermath of 9/11. Wake for Retired NYPD Detective Richard J. Mendez

Retired NYPD Detective Richard J. Mendez has died. During his career, among other assignments, he taught at the Police Academy.
His wake will be held on Friday, August 3, 2018 from 2:00pm to 5:00pm and from 7:00pm to 9:00pm at the Village Chapels funeral home in Middle Village.
A funeral Mass will be said on Saturday, August 4, 2018 at 9:45am at Our Lady of Hope R.C. Church in Middle Village.
Interment will follow at Cypress Hills Cemetery.
