Sergeant Curtin was a member of the NYPD’s elite Emergency Services Unit. He responded to both terrorist attacks on the World Trade Center. In addition to his police work, Sgt. Curtin served for 12 years in the United States Marine Corps and saw combat in the Gulf War. He devoted his life to helping those in need and was also a dedicated family man. The 3256 Foundation (named for Michael’s shield number) was organized by Michael’s family and friends to support charities focusing on children and families in need of special care. Through January 2018, the Foundation has donated over $50,000 to families and children’s charities.
