Light the City – Georgetown
September 11, 2016 @ 5:00 pm
Georgetown will host an ecumenical service, a concert and a candlelight tour of historic houses of worship to commemorate the fifteenth anniversary of the terrorist attacks of September 11, 2001.
At 5:00pm there will be a concert with Ashley Cleveland as part of an ecumenical vigil service at the Georgetown Visitation Nolan Center. This event will be co-hosted by the National Community Church. Free parking is available.
From 6:15pm to 6:30pm, go to the front steps of the Nolan Center to receive a candle, a map and a list of the 14 open historic houses of worship. Then from 6:30pm to 8:00pm tour the neighborhood at your own pace, visit the open historic houses of worship, hear beautiful music, and say a prayer for unity and peace at each stop marked by signs and luminaries.
At 8:00pm the evening ends with another candle-lighting and a reception at Epiphany Catholic Church.
A voluntary good will offering basket will be available at the Epiphany Reception benefiting the Georgetown Ministry Center.
