9/11 Tribute Center programs are offered throughout the year. Lectures, educational workshops and support programs are available to unite family members who lost loved ones, survivors, Lower Manhattan residents, rescue and recovery workers and volunteers who assisted in the aftermath of 9/11. Ceremony to Rename FDNY High School for Captain Vernon A. Richard, FDNY

A ceremony will be held on Thursday, June 30, 2016 at 12:00pm to rename FDNY High School in Brooklyn the Captain Vernon A. Richard High School for Public Safety.
The ceremony will take approximately one hour in the school’s auditorium.
Captain Vernon A. Richard was 53 and a 24-year FDNY veteran when he was killed responding with Ladder 7 to the terrorist attacks on the World Trade Center. A devoted family man and talented athlete, Captain Richard will also be remembered for his beautiful baritone. Many who didn’t know him heard him sing the National Anthem at a variety of events.
