Lectures, educational workshops and support programs are available to unite family members who lost loved ones, survivors, Lower Manhattan residents, rescue and recovery workers and volunteers who assisted in the aftermath of 9/11. The Aftermath of Recent Terror Attacks – Global Threats, Local Response – Newark

On Wednesday, January 20, 2016 from 10:00am to 12:00pm, the Rutgers Institute for Emergency Preparedness and Homeland Security, the Rutgers Police Institute, and the Northern NJ Urban Areas Security Initiative will host a presentation titled, The Aftermath of Recent Terror Attacks: Global Threats, Local Response. The venue for the presentation will be the Newark Police Headquarters OEM Meeting Room. Please note that, due to the number of RSVPs, the venue may change. Only those who have registered will be notified of any venue change.
Presentation topics will include an assessment of the global threat environment based on the initial phase of the Rutgers Faith-Based Communities Security Program; Threat briefings for the United States and Europe; Lessons learned from recent terror attacks; and a discussion of the evolving threat and methods to address it from a local prevention perspective.
Presenters will include Rutgers Professor John D. Cohen: former acting undersecretary for intelligence and analysis and counter-terrorism coordinator of the United States Department of Homeland Security (DHS); Rutgers Professor John J. Farmer, Jr.: served as senior counsel and team leader for the 9/11 Commission; former attorney general for the State of New Jersey; Sean Griffin: former Europol counter-terrorism senior specialist and collaborator on the Faith-Based Communities Security Program.
Additional presenters may be added. Presentations will be followed by a question and answer period.
