United in Purple Pancreatic Cancer Awareness Walk

November 14, 2015 @ 1:00 pm - 3:00 pm

Staten Island’s first Pancreatic Cancer Awareness Walk will take place at Clove Lakes Park, from 1:00pm to 3:00pm on Saturday, November 14, 2015.

Pancreatic cancer is a very underfunded and understudied cancer. For the last 40 years, there is has been no significant change in its survival rate — an abysmal 3%-7%. Pancreatic cancer rates are abnormally high among those who worked the World Trade Center recovery effort.

Money raised from the walk will be donated to the National Pancreatic Cancer Foundation, which helps patients with medical expenses, bills and transportation to and from appointments.
