NHL legend Garnet “Ace” Bailey, two-time Stanley Cup winner, was aboard United Airlines Flight 175 scouting for the Los Angeles Kings when it was hijacked in the terrorist attacks of September 11, 2001. He was 53.
Ace’s love of children inspired his family to start the Ace Bailey Children’s Foundation, which focuses on the well-being of hospitalized children through renovation of hospital environments. Their work makes the hospitalization easier and less stressful for frightened children and their families. The foundation works with The Floating Hospital for Children at Tufts Medical Center in Boston.
