9/11 Tribute Center programs are offered throughout the year. Lectures, educational workshops and support programs are available to unite family members who lost loved ones, survivors, Lower Manhattan residents, rescue and recovery workers and volunteers who assisted in the aftermath of 9/11. Chicken dinner fundraiser for 9/11 monument

Orcas Island Fire and Rescue will host an old-fashioned chicken dinner fundraiser on Saturday, August 4, 2012 from 5:00pm to 8:00pm at the Eastsound Fire Hall. The menu will include a choice of baked or barbeque chicken, cornbread, corn on the cob, salad, dessert, lemonade and coffee. The dinner’s cost will be $15.00 for adults and $8.00 for children 12 and under.
All profits will go towards the building of the local September 11th Memorial, which will include a 700-pound steel beam from the World Trade Center.
The organizers of the fundraiser hope to raise enough money to begin construction on the first phase of the memorial by September 11, 2012.
