Peach Arch Canada/US ceremony – British Columbia
September 11, 2014 @ 6:00 am - 1:00 pm
On Thursday, September 11, 2014, hundreds of police officers, firefighters, emergency medical workers, border & customs agents will form two unique motorcycle processions that will meet at the Peace Arch to pay tribute to those who were killed by terrorists on September 11, 2001 and those who have been sickened by the aftermath of the attacks.
Riders will meet at 6:00am at two locations — in Canada at the River Rock Casino Resort in Richmond, BC and in the US at the Swinomish Casino Lodge in Anacortes, Washington. After breakfast, they will ride to the Peace Arch in formal police-escorted processions of motorcycles, antique police and fire apparatus and politicians.
Five guests of honour, Antonia Amor, Kathy Brown, Steven Goldstein, Marna Rann and Craig Wagner, are New Yorkera who were personally affected by the terrorist attacks. These guests will participate in the ride.
Participants are requested to donate a minimum of $20.00 to offset travel costs for the dignitaries and to raise funds for Honour House.
Peace Arch Provincial Park is unique in BC’s system of provincial parks. Its location straddles the 49th parallel, with its planning and development done in conjunction with Washington State Parks.
