Sneak peek of 9/11 Mobile Museum, Pittsburgh PA
September 8, 2013 @ 10:00 am - 6:00 pm
The new 9/11 Mobile Exhibit will be on display on Art Rooney Avenue, outside Heinz Field in Pittsburgh from 10:00am to 6:00pm.
The centerpiece of the exhibit is a piece of World Trade Center steel welded into the form of the Twin Towers.
There’s also an audio recording of the last known FDNY transmission shortly before the South Tower collapsed and other artifacts.
The official opening will be on the anniversary in North Carolina, but the organizers, from the Stephen Siller Tunnel to Towers Foundation, met many interested people in Pittsburgh while hosting an event for local wounded warrior Marine Cpl. Doug Vitale. So Pittsburgh residents will be able to experience the exhibit before the official opening.
The Stephen Siller Tunnel to Towers Foundation was named for an FDNY firefighter who was killed during the attacks after running in full gear through the Brooklyn Battery Tunnel to get to the towers. The Foundation builds “smart” homes for severely injured veterans, was one of the most effective responders to Hurricane Sandy, and does great good in Stephen’s name.
Three FDNY firefighters who worked at the World Trade Center recovery effort are expected to attend Sunday’s unveiling in Pittsburgh.
