The State of New Jersey is again offering free ferry service from SeaStreak for those September 11th families traveling from New Jersey to the Memorial for New York City’s anniversary ceremony at the National September 11th Memorial. The thirteenth annual Spirit of America blood drive will return to the Michigan International Speedway in Brooklyn, Michigan on Friday, September 11, 2015 Anyone with a blood donation appointment will have the opportunity to ride the MIS tram around the track, through the tunnel to the pits and into MIS’s Home of the Brave exhibit. The deadline for members of the NYPD to file a Notice of Participation with the Police Pension Fund has been extended to September 11, 2015. Active and retired NYPD officers who participated in the rescue, recovery and clean-up efforts but did not file the notice before the original 2010 deadline will now be able to do so in order to protect their presumptive eligibility for accident disability pension benefits. The 9/11 Memorial Committee of Lackawanna County will hold its annual commemoration of the terror attacks of 2001 on Friday, September 11, 2015 at 8:00am at the September 11th Memorial in McDade Park in Scranton. The Bridgeton, NJ Fire Department will host its annual 9/11 Memorial Stair Climb starting at 8:00am on Friday, September 11, 2015. The climb honors the memory of the firefighters who raced into the World Trade Center, 343 of whom were killed that day. Many of the survivors are very sick today.
