9/11 Tribute Center programs are offered throughout the year. Lectures, educational workshops and support programs are available to unite family members who lost loved ones, survivors, Lower Manhattan residents, rescue and recovery workers and volunteers who assisted in the aftermath of 9/11. On Thursday, October 16, 2014 at 7:00pm, Friends of Firefighters will host their 7th annual Fall Gala at Pioneer Works in Brooklyn. Price of admission: Class As $75.00. A fundraiser to support the Honor Elizabeth Wainio ’95 Memorial Communications Scholarship will be held on Saturday, October 25, 2014 from 2:00pm to 6:00pm at Ropewalk Tavern in Baltimore. Lizz Wainio, an alumna of Towson University, was a passenger aboard United Flight 93 during the terrorist attacks of September 11, 2001. She was 27. The second annual Harvest Dinner to benefit Be the Hero for a Hero will take place on Saturday, November 8, 2014 at the Warwick Valley Country Club. Be the Hero for a Hero was founded to find a bone marrow match for Firefighter Roy Chelsen, who suffered from site-related multiple myeloma, from which he died in January 2011. Fairfax County, Virginia has been named the host city for the 2015 World Police & Fire Games. The Games will bring more than 10,000 competitors to the area. Many of its 65 events will take place at Fairfax County venues such as George Mason University & Reston Town Center.
