9/11 Tribute Center programs are offered throughout the year. Lectures, educational workshops and support programs are available to unite family members who lost loved ones, survivors, Lower Manhattan residents, rescue and recovery workers and volunteers who assisted in the aftermath of 9/11. 278 American and military flags will be displayed in front of the Wellington C. Mepham High School lawn until mid-December to remember those killed in the terrorist attacks of September 11, 2001, support our troops, and to raise funds for Tuesday’s Children. The flags were installed by students at the school. They were sponsored and raised nearly $5,000.00 for the charity. Join Heartworks on Friday, December 2, 2016, from 5:00pm to 8:00pm and on Saturday, December 3, 2016 from 12:00pm to 3:00pm to decorate a pre-assembled gingerbread house. Heartworks will supply all of the decorations and clean up all the mess. There will be apple cider, storytelling, cardmaking, and more fun to share. The cost is $25.00 per house. On Sunday, December 4, 2016 at 11:30am, Santa Claus will be rescued from the roof of the New York City Fire Museum by a ladder company of the FDNY. Watching the roof rescue is free. Afterwards, Santa will pose for photos at a cost of $8.00 for adults and $5.00 for children as a fundraiser for the New York City Fire Museum.
