Plans to renovate Woodside’s Doughboy Plaza and memorial to 9/11 victims revealed

A 9/11 memorial in Queens is scheduled to be renovated as part of a $1.5 million renovation of Doughboy Plaza, a Woodside park that contains the memorial plaque honoring the 34 people from the neighborhood killed in the terrorist attacks of September 11, 2001 and a World War I memorial.

Community Board 2 approved the renovation plans this month. Plans include, new lighting, replacing broken paving, the addition of a garden with seating and a fountain and the temporary removal of the September 11th plaque for cleaning and the restoration of the plaque.
