Off-duty NYPD Officer Brian Kessler killed after car collides with garbage truck

Rookie NYPD Officer Brian Kessler has been killed in a car crash while going home from work.

Two NYC Parks Department employees in the other vehicle suffered minor injuries.

Officer Kessler, 28, was engaged to be married and graduated from the Police Academy in October 2018.

The President of the Patrolmen’s Benevolent Association Patrick J. Lynch told Spectrum News, “We are deeply saddened at the loss of our brother Police Officer Brian Kessler in this tragic accident. Our thoughts and prayers are with the Kessler family, his fiancĂ© and all his NYPD colleagues, particularly those at PSA 8. We also are keeping the NYC Parks employees who were injured in our thoughts as we wish them a speedy and full recovery.”
