NYC gets 9/11 vet as new emergency management commissioner

Retired NYPD Officer John Scrivani will be New York City’s next emergency management commissioner, replacing Deanne Criswell, who is moving to FEMA.

Scrivani responded to the terrorist attacks of September 11, 2001. He worked in disaster response for the Virginia Department of Transportation, coming back to New York during the height of the COVID-19 pandemic, building and managing the emergency morgue at the South Brooklyn Marine Terminal, reports Nolan Hicks for the New York Post.
