‘I am as American as everyone else’: Rep. Ilhan Omar fires back at critics questioning her patriotism after 9/11 remark

Recent remarks by Rep. Ilhan Omar calling the 9/11 terrorist attacks “some people did something” have caused backlash against her. The Muslim representative is now defending herself in the press.

She made the controversial 9/11 comment during a speech she gave in March at a California Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR) event. Omar is Muslim who came to the U.S. as a refugee from Somalia, writes Allyson Chiu for the Washington Post.
