Federal investigators probing accident in which steel plate fell on World Trade Center worker

By Joe Kemp and Greg B. Smith New York Daily News

Federal investigators are looking into how a steel plate fell on a hardhat at the World Trade Center site over the weekend.

A 48-year-old carpenter working for Navillus Contracting was taken by ambulance Saturday from the Trade Center’s vehicle security center.

Fire officials said he was listed as stable with multiple fractures, including a broken leg. The Occupational Health and Safety Administration opened an investigation into how it happened.
