Death of 9/11 hero Lt. Edward Meehan, ret. FDNY

Retired FDNY Lieutenant Edward Meehan has died of cancer he contracted while working at the site of the former World Trade Center in the aftermath of the 9/11 terrorist attacks, reports Ray O’Hanlon for the Irish Echo.

Lt. Meehan was 59 and began his career at Ladder 45 in July, 1983. He also worked at Ladder 23. His final firehouse was Ladder 22, where he was lieutenant. He ended his career teaching at the Fire Academy.
