Bike path terrorism suspect seeks plea deal to avoid death penalty

Attorneys representing the accused terrorist charged with murdering eight people and injuring more in the October 31, 2017 bike path truck attack in Lower Manhattan have said that their client will enter a guilty plea if prosecutors do not seek the death penalty reports Benjamin Weiser in the New York Times. The sentence would then be life imprisonment without the chance of parole. Currently, the plea is not guilty

Whether or not the death penalty will be sought has not been determined.
