Beloved retired FDNY EMT Joseph Rodriguez – ‘Joey Challenger’ – dies of 9/11 illness

Retired EMT Joseph Rodriguez, a beloved member of the FDNY, died of World Trade Center-related cancers on Friday, the second FDNY EMT to die from site-related illness this week. He was 59.

Rodriguez suffered greatly and was often in pain, but still worked with the Legendary Muscle Cars Auto Club, showing the 2010 Dodge Challenger that gave him the nickname Joey Challenger, reports Thomas Tracy for the New York Daily News.

He saved many lives in his 28-year career.
