USS New York recognized for good works

PO2 Amanda E. Brittingham of USS New York Public Affairs reports in the Mayport Mirror that the crew of the USS New York (LPD 21) placed first in the Navy’s annual Community Service Program contest in the Health, Safety and Fitness Flagship and the Project Good Neighbor Flagship Award categories and second in the Personal Excellence Flagship Award. The crew collectively gave more than 2000 hours to good works and community service.

USS New York’s crew is now preparing for sea trials. The ship is expected to deploy again in 2018.
