ARABIAN SEA (WAVY) – The USS New York added another landmark event to her maiden deployment.

U.S. Army AH64D Apache Longbow helicopter landed on the flight deck of the USS New York on June 22. This was part of a joint training exercise to improve the Army and Navy’s efficiency when landing on ships, as well as the ability to accommodate them while on board.

“This was great training for our Air Department, and it’s always nice to work with other branches of services,” air operations officer Lt. Patrick Blind said. “It also adds another capability to New York’s arsenal.”

The USS New York is on her maiden deployment to support maritime security and theater security cooperation efforts in the U.S. 5th Fleet.
