USS Makin Island & USS Somerset sailors make last port call before returning home

The USS Somerset, the Navy ship named for the county in which Flight 93 crashed after being hijacked on September 11, 2001, made its last port call before returning home from deployment, reports Hoa Quach in the Times of San Diego.

Pearl Harbor, Hawaii, hosted USS Somerset, USS Makin Island, and USS Comstock. The ships have been deployed since October 14, 2016, transporting Marines to the Arabian Gulf, the Gulf of Aden, and traveling through the Pacific and Indian Oceans.

The ships’ arrival date in San Diego has not been announced.
