New rules for filing claims with 9/11 Victim Compensation Fund (Zadroga Act)

The September 11th Victim Compensation Fund (VCF) has posted new rules for sick recovery workers and survivors to file their claims, reports the Associated Press.

The deadline has been extended to December 18, 2020, and definitions of covered health conditions have been modified.

The fund was reopened in 2011 after Congress authorized the James Zadroga 9/11 Health and Compensation Act. Zadroga is named for NYPD Detective James Zadroga, who died of World Trade Center-related pulmonary fibrosis in 2006.The Act was allowed to expire in 2015. After site workers begged, pleaded and took multiple trips to Congress in wheelchairs, the Zadroga Act was reauthorized.
