Hawaii becomes 15th state to ‘opt-in’ to FirstNet

Hawaii has become the 15th state to opt in to the FirstNet communications system, reports Urgent Communications Donny Jackson.

This communication system for information sharing among emergency personnel was designed to fulfill the recommendations of the 9/11 Commission.

The other states and territories opting into the system are (in order of acceptance) Virginia, Wyoming, Arkansas, Kentucky, Iowa, New Jersey, West Virginia, New Mexico, Michigan, Maine, Montana, Arizona, Kansas, Nevada and the U.S. Virgin Islands territory.
